Maintain Healthy Habits For Life
I would like you to think about times in the past when you may have been on a drastic diet; maybe you've lost a lot of weight or maybe your energy levels have skyrocketed. However, ask yourself the following questions:
- Can you imagine sustaining these extreme changes in the long run?
- Would you be happiest if you lived this way?
- Did you long for the day when you could go back to your old ways?
- Did you keep the long-term results or did the weight come back right away?
If you can't make drastic changes to your diet and lifestyle - which, let's face it, neither of us can - then that's a lot of pain with no long-term gain.
The food industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. It thrives on repeat customers and promises quick results. Unfortunately, diet can do more harm than good to your physical and mental health and, not to mention, interfere with our understanding of what healthy eating and living is. Often times, people who achieve their desired health goals simply make small changes that can support them in the long run without feeling miserable.
This is the key to long-term change.
So your challenge is to appreciate the changes you have made so far. Ask yourself the following questions this week:
- How can these healthy changes help me?
- What will I lose if I leave these healthy changes?
- Can I realistically enforce these changes? How else can you make the changes more realistic?
- Do I think long term with my health? How else can you sustain the changes in the long term? Do I have to work with a dietitian or nutritionist?
It's not a quick fix and it won't drastically change your health overnight, but when it comes to your health, Slow and Steady wins the race.
From all of us at Spectrum Nutrition, we hope you enjoyed your participation in the January BOOST Challenge and we hope you keep up the good work.
We hope you can see the positive effect that small changes can have on your energy and well-being. You are your most valuable asset. Without your health, every other area of your life will suffer, so try to prioritize it. As they say, health is the crown that only the sick can see. Imagine how your life could be affected if your health was affected? Don't take your health for granted. It really is the greatest gift.
