Do You Lack Sleep? Importance Of Sleep

The importance of sleep when it comes to boosting energy. This is probably the biggest challenge you should take on if you're feeling a little slow.

If you're struggling with low energy, it can be easy to overlook the importance of sleep. As a company, we are busier than ever. As work / social and other demands increase, we are under more pressure than ever to tick off our to-do lists and try to adapt every day. With just 24 hours a day, something has to be done. Unfortunately, in many cases, sleep is usually the one that takes a hit to fit in better these days.

I want you to think about your week last week. How many hours on average did you sleep well per night? The Harvard School of Health recommends that adults aim for 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night.

Are you watching Netflix, scrolling aimlessly on social media, or checking emails while you sleep? It's not uncommon to log into social media to view a post, and then log out hours later.

If you wake up tired or want a nap all day, chances are you're not getting enough sleep.

Ideally, this is now a total of 7-9 hours of sleep, but any increase is an improvement. Evaluate your energy levels and notice how they improve as your sleep debt decreases.

Why is sleep important?

Sleep is a requirement, not a luxury. We are not robots. Our bodies need sleep to recover and rejuvenate. Technology can work 24/7, but humans cannot.

So how do I know if I'm not getting enough sleep?

You may be irritated, have low energy, and have trouble concentrating or remembering things. You may be feeling cranky in the garbage dumps and generally not feeling your best. You may find yourself making silly mistakes like putting your phone in the fridge and running the milk. The reality is that when you don't get enough sleep your energy suffers and everything in life seems more difficult.

What Happens If You Don't Get Enough Sleep?

If you have a sleep debt - meaning you owe your body more sleep than you give it - you are at greater risk of weight gain, diabetes, heart disease, stroke. and amnesia.
